El S.XX és una època de canvis, degut a la Segona Guerra Mundial moltes ciutats necessiten ser reconstruïdes, i apareixen noves línies de pensament en l’arquitectura teòrica que intenten trencar amb el llegat de l’Arquitectura Moderna. Un grup de joves arquitectes s’uneix i desenvolupa uns ideals més socials els quals empoderen als habitants de les seves ciutats i regularitzen les seves ordenacions per mitjà de les distàncies mesurades a partir del temps. Així apareixen els mat-buildings.

The 20th century is a time of change, due to World War II many cities need to be rebuilt, and new lines of thought appear in theoretical architecture that try to break with the legacy of Modern Architecture. A group of young architects come together and develop more social ideals which empower the inhabitants of their cities and regularize their arrangements through the distances measured from time to time. This is how matbuildings appear.
