Apuntes para configuraciones arquitectónicas para el ensayo de los músicos en ambiente doméstico

Abstract

Realizar la práctica musical en espacios domésticos puede ser complejo. Principalmente hay dos variables que intervienen en este proceso: el respeto hacia el vecindario y el confort de la persona que ensaya. Ambas variables son el punto de partida de este trabajo.

Como principal objetivo, se quiere explorar la tensión entre estas dos variables. Conociendo esta tensión es posible imaginar configuraciones arquitectónicas para adaptar un rincón donde poder practicar música en un ambiente doméstico. Una condición será que las respuestas ante esta problemática tengan que ser asequibles económicamente.

Se estudian los marcos teóricos como primer paso metodológico. La evolución de la música, la acústica y la arquitectura relacionadas son los núcleos principales de esta investigación. El contexto actual se ha documentado mediante encuestas y entrevistas a personas del mundo de la música. A continuación se analizan los conceptos básicos de la acústica. Esta es una ciencia muy amplia donde intervienen muchos parámetros. En consecuencia no tiene sentido pretender una única solución a la situación planteada, siendo en realidad una ecuación con resoluciones diversas.

Como resultado de la implementación de esta metodología se obtiene un decálogo de errores y uno de consejos para adaptar un rincón para la práctica musical. De esta manera, los desarrollos concretos derivan a unas situaciones entendidas como configuraciones arquitectónicas. Estas se basan en la forma, las proporciones del espacio y en los materiales utilizados.

En definitiva, se inició esta investigación con la idea de explorar soluciones. Pero finalmente cuando se plantea reconfigurar un espacio aparecen muchas variables. Por este motivo, se afirma que no es una cuestión de solución general, sino que un mismo sitio se puede adaptar de distintas formas. Por lo tanto, no estamos en un caso de solución, sino de inclusión.

Practising music in domestic spaces can be complicated. There are two main variables involved in this process: the respect for the neighbourhood and the musician’s own comfort when they are playing. Both variables are the starting point of this study.

The main objective is to explore the tension of these two variables. Understanding this tension it is possible to imagine architectural configurations to adapt a corner of the house. A condition of this tension will be that the responses to this problem must be affordable for people.

A theoretical framework is studied. The evolution of music, acoustics and architecture are the main hubs of this research. The current context has been studied through surveys and interviews with people in the music world. This is followed by an analysis of the basic concepts of acoustics. This is a very broad science in which many parameters are involved. Consequently, it makes no sense to claim there is just a single solution to this situation. It is in fact an equation with different resolutions.

As a result of the implementation of this work methodology, a decalogue of errors and a decalogue of advice for adapting a corner or space for practising music at home, is obtained. In this way, the specific developments of the research lead to situations known as architectural configurations. These are based on the form, the proportions of the space and, fundamentally, on the materials used.

In conclusion, the research begins with the idea of exploring solutions. However, when it comes to reconfiguring a space, many variables appear. For this reason, it is argued that it is not a question of a general solution, but that each case results in an equation of its conditions. Therefore, we are not in a case of finding a solution, but a case of inclusion.
