UML Profiles allow designers to customize the UML to their particular domain or purpose. This is a key feature to adapt the models of the information systems to the continuously evolving organizations that they represent. These profiles must be implemented in CASE tools the designer employs to gain the benefits of its use. In this paper we propose a design strategy to overcome the limitations of current CASE tools respect to profiles definition. The basic idea of our method is to extend the CASE tool with a set of profile operations that act as an interface with the designer in order to allow him to define and evolve models that use elements of the profile.
