Descripció
Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) are a special kind of Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks, where wireless-equipped vehicles form a network without any additional infrastructure. The network enables devices and sensors in and around the vehicle to communicate through wireless protocols. The number of applications using VANETs is limitless in areas such as security, context aware applications to support drivers, etc. This TFC will analyse VANETs technologies and will focus on facilities applications, specifically the search of free parking lots in a city. The idea is to receive and distribute information about where the nearest parking lot is. This application will be prototyped with robots that simulate cars provided with different sensors that allow them to communicate and collaborate. One robot should drive through a street broadcasting the free parking lots on its way. The second robot should receive the information and process it in order to park in the nearest lot. Also different functions will be implemented such as automatic payment service of the parking lot, direction of the streets, etc. The student will study different mechanisms about how VANETs distribute and receive information, protocols, analysis of different robots, its sensors, RF communications, software, etc.
