Abstract
This project intends to extract and analyse the results of functioning of Shuttle Storaging Systems.
Shuttle Storage Systems are rack-‐storing facilities defined by the goods transporting
devices, which are a combination of
a lift and one shuttle at each floor.
The lift is responsible for transporting
the goods between the floor and the corresponding floor, and the shuttle then
takes the goods to the corresponding position
on the floor for storage.
The combination of these transporters, which
are independent thanks to mid-‐process buffers, is what will
define the total throughput of the system.
Their independence, however, makes it too complex to extract easy analytical solution
for the system. Therefore, the system will be
modelled and simulated with a discrete process simulator: ARENA Simulation Software.
This software will grant the ability of monitoring closely the functioning of the system and will report simulation results that will help understand and explain the functioning of the system.
