Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to identify risk factors that caused by customer
collaboration in new product development systematically, and propose an approach to judge
which risk factors are critical and catch substantial attention.
Design/methodology/approach: This study identifies risk factors according to the results of
study retrieval, experts’ evaluation and consultation, and case studies of enterprises in china. On
this basis, an improved rough number approach is put forward to evaluate the importance of
risk factors.
Findings: Firstly, classify risk factors into three aspects. Then, present a risk factor set, which
include thirty-seven risk factors. At last, determine which risk factors are critical by using an
improved rough number approach.
Originality/value: Considering there are few researches studying comprehensive risk factors of
customer collaboration and assessing them, this paper explores a risk factor set of customer
collaboration in product development stage, and proposes a novel approach, which can help to
solve the problem of subjective, vague and lack of prior information of evaluation, to evaluate
risk factors.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to build enterprise project culture evaluation model and
search for the best evaluation method for Chinese enterprise project culture on the basis of
studying and drawing lessons from enterprise culture evaluation theory and method at home
and abroad.
Design/methodology/approach: Referring to the Denison enterprise culture evaluation
model, this paper optimizes it according to the difference of enterprise project culture, designs
the enterprise project culture evaluation model and proves the practicability of the model
through empirical.
Finding: This paper finds that it's more applicable to use the Denison model for enterprise
project culture evaluation through the comparative analysis of domestic and foreign enterprise
culture evaluation theory and method, the systematic project culture management framework
of Chinese enterprises has not yet formed through empirical research, and four factors in
enterprise project culture have important influence on project operation performance
improvement.
Research limitations/implications: The research on evaluation of enterprise project culture
based on Denison model is a preliminary attempt, the design of evaluation index system, evaluation model and scale structure also need to be improved, but the thinking of this paper in
this field provides a valuable reference for future research.
Practical Implications: This paper provides the support of theory and practice for evaluating
the present situation of enterprise project culture construction and analyzing the advantages
and disadvantages of project culture, which contributes to the "dialectical therapy" of
enterprise project management, enterprise management and enterprise project culture
construction.
Originality/value: The main contribution of this paper is the introduction of Denison
enterprise culture model. Combining with the actual situation of enterprises, this paper also
builds the evaluation model for enterprise project culture, which is helpful to promote the

Purpose: China is confronting with tremendous pressure in carbon emission reduction. While
logistics industry seriously relies on fossil fuel, and emits greenhouse gas, especially carbon
dioxide. The aim of this article is to estimate the carbon dioxide emission in China’s logistics
sector, and analyze the causes for the change of carbon dioxide emission, and identify the
critical factors which mainly drive the change in carbon dioxide emissions of China’s logistics
industry.
Design/methodology/approach: The logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method has
often been used to analyze decomposition of energy consumption and carbon emission due to
its theoretical foundation, adaptability, ease of use and result interpretation. So we use the
LMDI method to analyze the changes in carbon dioxide emission of China’s logistics industry
in this paper.
Findings: By analyzing carbon dioxide emission of China’s logistics, the results show that the
carbon dioxide emission of logistics in China has increased by 21.5 times, from 45.1 million
tons to 1014.1 million tons in the research period. The highway transport is the main
contributor to carbon dioxide emission in logistics industry. The energy intensity and carbon
dioxide emission factors contributed to the reduction of carbon dioxide emission in China’s
logistics industry in overall study period.
Originality/value: Although a lot of literature have analyzed carbon dioxide emission in many
industry sectors, such as manufacturing, iron and steel, pulp and paper, cement, glass industry,
and so on. However, few scholars researched on carbon dioxide emission in logistics industry.
This is the first study which is in the context of carbon dioxide emission of China’s logistics
industry.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to presents a specialized risk management approach and
a structured risk management methodology for optimizing the macro business environments in
turbulent business spheres.
Design/methodology/approach: In this work, we present a specialized approach called ‘Risk
Leveling’, and an organized risk management methodology known as ‘Risk Leveling in Business
Environments (RLBE)’. The Risk Leveling approach guides on how to deal with the contextual
turbulences in order to attempt the ideal business settings, and the RLBE methodology
provides an operational procedure to evaluate and manage the macro risks in a designated way.
RLBE follows a multi-tier approach towards divergent risks and focuses on balancing the risky
macro environs facing the business (segment). While observing risk mitigations, this approach
recommends utilizing the available resources in a systematic and efficient way. The RLBE
procedure directs how to reduce the risks to match them with the enterprises’ risk tolerance; it
also attempts to diminish the mutual risk disparities giving rise a context in which no risk is seen
too big or too small comparative to the others. In order to actualize the desired, the RLBE
process utilizes a mix of group decision methods (i.e. Brainstorming, Delphi, Three Point
Estimates), analysis tools (i.e. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP)), and philosophies (i.e. As
Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP)) in an orderly fashion. Findings: Risk Leveling procedure presented in the study adopts the standard risk
management process, attempts to pacify macro risks, and strives to achieve risk leveled
environments for the industry. During its course to pursue the best business settings, RLBE
favors to conserve the scarce organizational resources by utilizing them systematically.
Originality/value: This approach can be practiced by the regimes to pacify and regulate the
macro risks in the turbulent market segments.

Purpose: E-Government, as a new bond linking the government and the public, has gradually
become the focus of innovation in government services. The paper focuses on the
e-Government service quality issues from the perspective of users.
Design/methodology/approach: From the aspects of online service quality perception and
offline service quality perception, based on IS Success model and SERQUAL model,
e-Government Services Quality model has been set up with information quality, system quality
and service quality as key factors. Then, the survey method was applied to collect data and then
to test the model.
Findings: It was found that users’ perception of offline service quality has a significant effect
on improving their perception of online service quality, and online service quality perception
has a significant effect on public satisfaction of e-Government services; information clarity,
system security and stability, interactive services and “one-stop” services all have a significant
effect on public satisfaction of e-Government services. However, offline service quality
perception has certain positive effect on public satisfaction of e-Government services but not
dramatically. Research limitations/implications: Mobile e-Government as an important direction of the
development of e-Government, in the future, we will study more about mobile e-Government
services channels.
Originality/value: This study further develops the theory of information system service
quality, and also provides a theoretical reference for government departments. On the one
hand, based on the characteristics of e-government system, information quality, system quality
and service quality in the previous system service model are further discussed; on the other
hand, both online and offline services are taken into consideration in the information system
service model, thus establishing the e-government services quality model and making an indepth
study of the integration effect of online and offline services. Its conclusions can be
references for the application of traditional information system service model in the field of
e-government.

Purpose: This paper mainly focuses on the exactly and precisely supply of carrying spare parts
problem which has a crucial impact on supporting work and improving the performance of
equipment. Spare parts support has been the crux work that will be limited by allocation of
spare parts and input support cost. Reasonable support strategy may subserve the high
efficiency of available resources allocation and supporting the equipment in normal operational
status. The purpose of this paper is to propose a dynamics model of spare parts support
process based on considering the interaction of multiple factors, and explore the regulation of
dynamics behavior in the system. Further, findings indicate that it is more helpful to achieve the
optimization strategy than to cut inventory, results of the former suggest that improve on the
effect of support so that will enhance the relevant support parameters of equipment.
Design/methodology/approach: Consider the feedback relationship among some important
factors of support that involves support cost, support time and maintenance ability. System
dynamics theory is adopted to propose a dynamics model of spare parts support process, on
the analysis of multiple factors and casual relationship to find some major ones which have
crucial impact on spare parts support. Spare parts support cost and availability was regarded as
the control objective, moreover, adjust the control paramours and improve the effect of
cannibalization and lateral supply scheduling strategy for spares support.
Findings: The factors of spare parts supply, demand and maintenance have relationship of
control feedback, and adjust the value of some crucial factors can reduce the support cost and
improve the availability value. The main finding is that adopting cannibalization strategy under
condition of available materials can relieve the mission and operational availability decline
caused by shortage of spare parts. Combining the lateral supply and cannibalization strategy can
reduce the inventory of warship carrying spare parts.
Practical implications: By controlling the value of key factors regarding aspect of spare parts
supply, logistics and maintenance planning. Decision makers can have a visualization guideline
to make the adjustment of support strategy, and can achieve better management of equipment
and spare parts.
Originality/value: This paper proposes a dynamics model and focuses on exploring the
dynamics behavior of the support system that could help in improving the ability of warship
equipment to make supply support strategy easily. It can provide visualization guideline for
decision maker in the enterprise.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to study the description and extension of the Industry
Foundation Classes (IFC) standard in the construction schedule management, which achieves
the information exchange and sharing among the different information systems and
stakeholders, and facilitates the collaborative construction in construction projects.
Design/methodology/approach: The schedule information processing and coordination are
difficult in complex construction projects. However, Building Information Modeling (BIM)
provides a platform for exchanging and sharing information among information systems and
stakeholders based on the IFC standard.
Through analyzing the plan, implementing, check and control, the information flow in the
schedule management is reflected based on the IDEF0. According to the IFC4, the information
models for the schedule management are established, which not only includes the each aspect
of the schedule management, but also includes the cost management, the resource
management, the quality management, the risk management and so on.
Findings: The information requirement for the construction schedule management can be
summarized into three aspects: the schedule plan information, the implementing information
and the check and control information, and three aspects can be described through the existing and extended entities of the IFC4, and different information models are established
respectively.
Originality/value: The main contribution of the article is to establish construction schedule
management information models, which achieve the information exchange and sharing in the
construction project, and facilitate the development of the application software to meet
requirements of the construction project.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to extend the analysis of the distribution-free
newsvendor problem under the circumstance of customer balking, which usually occurs when
customers are reluctant to buy products if the available inventory falls below a threshold level.
Design/methodology/approach: A new tradeoff tool is provided as a replacement of the
traditional one to weigh the holding cost and the goodwill costs segment: apart from the
shortage penalty, the balking penalty is introduced. Furthermore, such research methodology is
employed in the case of random yield.
Findings: A model is presented for determining both an optimal order quantity and a lower
bound of the profit under the worst possible distribution of the demand. We also study the
effects of shortage penalty and the balking penalty on the bias of the optimal order quantity,
which have been largely bypassed in the existing distribution-free single period models with
balking. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the result.
Originality/value: The incorporation of balking penalty and random yield represents an
important improvement in inventory policy performance for distribution-free newsvendor
problem when customer balking occurs and the distributional form of demand is uncertain.

Purpose: Reducing carbon emission has been the core problem of controlling global warming
and climate deterioration recently. This paper focuses on the optimal carbon taxation policy
levied by countries and the impact on firms’ optimal production decisions.
Design/methodology/approach: This paper uses a two-stage game theory model to analyze
the impact of carbon tariff and tax. Numerical simulation is used to supplement the theoretical
analysis.
Findings: Results derived from the paper indicate that the demand in an unstable market is
significantly affected by environmental damage level. Carbon tariff is a policy-oriented tax while
the carbon tax is a market-oriented one. Comprehensive carbon taxation policy benefit
developed countries and basic policy is more suitable for developing countries.
Research limitations/implications: In this research, we do not consider random demand and
asymmetric information, which may not well suited the reality.
Originality/value: This work provides a different perspective in analyzing the impact of
carbon tax and tariff. It is the first study to consider two consuming market and the strategic game between two countries. Different international status of countries considered in the paper
is also a unique point.

Purpose: As one of the most important overhead capital of urban economics and social
development, the sustainable development of urban infrastructure is becoming a key issue of
prosperous society growing. The purpose of this paper is to establish a basic model to analysis
certain infrastructure project’s sustainable construction and operation.
Design/methodology/approach: System dynamics is an effective stimulation method and
tool to deal with such complex, dynamics, nonlinear systems, which could be used in analyzing
and evaluating all aspects of infrastructure sustainability internally and externally. In this paper,
the system is divided into four subsystems and 12 main impact indicators.
Through setting the boundary and other basic hypothesis, this paper designs the basic causal
loop diagrams and stock & flow diagrams to describe the relationship between variables and
establish a quantifiable structure for the system.
Findings: Adopting a sewerage treatment in China as a case to test our model, we could
conclude that the model of internal sustainable subsystem is reasonable. However, this model is
a basic model, and it need to be specific designed for the certain project due to the diversity of
infrastructure types and the unique conditions of each projects.
Originality/value: System Dynamics (SD) is widely used in the study of sustainable
development and has plentiful research achievements from macro perspective but few studies in
the microcosmic project systems. This paper focuses on the unique characteristics of urban infrastructure in China and selects infrastructure project which is based on micro-system
discussion. The model we designed has certain practical significance in policy setting, operation
monitoring and adjustment of the urban projects with high rationality and accuracy.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the impacts of over meeting customer
demands on the product development process, which is on the basis of the quantitative model
of customer demands, development cost and time. Then propose the corresponding product
development optimization decision.
Design/methodology/approach: First of all, investigate to obtain the customer demand
information, and then quantify customer demands weights by using variation coefficient
method. Secondly, analyses the relationship between customer demands and product
development time and cost based on the quality function deployment and establish
corresponding mathematical model. On this basis, put forward the concept of customer
demand saturation and optimization decision method of product development, and then apply
it in the notebook development process of a company. Finally, when customer demand is
saturated, it also needs to prove the consistency of strengthening satisfies customer demands
and high attention degree customer demands, and the stability of customer demand saturation
under different parameters.
Findings: The development cost and the time will rise sharply when over meeting the
customer demand. On the basis of considering the customer demand saturation, the
relationship between customer demand and development time cost is quantified and balanced. And also there is basically consistent between the sequence of meeting customer demands and
customer demands survey results.
Originality/value: The paper proposes a model of customer demand saturation. It proves the
correctness and effectiveness on the product development decision method.

B-28744-2008
Purpose: A mathematical model is used to help determine the manufacturing capacity needed
to support post-vehicle-application remanufacturing, repurposing, and recycling of lithium-ion
batteries over time. Simulation is used in solving the model to estimate capacity in kWh.
Lithium-ion batteries that are commonly used in the electrification of vehicles cannot be simply
discarded post-vehicle-application due to the materials of which they are composed. Eventually,
each will fail to hold a charge and will need to be recycled. Remanufacturing, allowing a battery
to return to a vehicle application, and repurposing, transforming a battery for use in a nonvehicle
application, postpone recycling and increase value.
The mathematical model and its solution using simulation test the hypothesis that the capacity
needed for remanufacturing, repurposing, and recycling as well as new battery production is a
function of a single parameter: the percent of post-vehicle-application batteries that are
remanufactured.
Design/methodology/approach: Equations in the mathematical model represent the
capacity needed for remanufacturing, repurposing, and recycling as well as new battery
production as dependent variables. Independent variables are exogenous quantities as such as
the demand for electrified vehicles of all types, physical properties of batteries such as their application life distribution including the time to recycling, and a single decision variable: the
percent of post-vehicle-application batteries that are remanufactured. Values of the dependent
variables over time are estimated by simulation for values of the percent of post-vehicleapplication
batteries ranging from 0% to 85% in steps of 5%.
Findings: The simulation results support important insights for investment in capacity for
remanufacturing, repurposing, and recycling of post-vehicle-application batteries as well as new
batteries. The capacity needed for recycling is relatively constant regardless of the percent of
post-vehicle-application batteries that are remanufactured. The sum of the capacity for
remanufacturing and recycling is relatively constant as well. The need for new battery
production capacity is reduced significantly (> 10%) for remanufacturing percentages of 55%
and above.
Research limitations/implications: There is a high degree of uncertainty associated with any
forecast concerning post-vehicle-application lithium-ion batteries due to a lack of experience
with their remanufacturing, repurposing, and recycling.
Practical implications: Electrification of vehicles appears to be the only technically feasible
approach to meeting government regulations concerning mileage and emissions (Center for
Climate and Energy Solutions 2013). The planning in the present for the remanufacturing,
repurposing, and recycling of the lithium-ion batteries used in electrification of vehicles is
necessary. Capacity estimation is one important component of such planning.
Social implications: The electrification of vehicles versus the use of fossil fuels is consistent
with the guiding principles of sustainability in helping to meet current needs without
compromising the needs and resources of future generations. Reusing entire lithium-ion
batteries or recycling the materials of which they are composed further reinforces the
sustainability of vehicle electrification.
Originality/value: Estimates of recycling capacity needed in 2030, about 2.69M kWh, change
little with the percent of post-vehicle-application batteries that are remanufactured. The need
for significant recycling capacity appears between 2022 and 2024, increasing steadily thereafter.
Similarly, the sum of remanufacturing and repurposing capacity is relatively constant indicating
the need for flexible facilities that can do either task. In addition by 2030, up to approximately
25% of new battery production could be replaced by remanufactured batteries.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to summarize safety management of manager into two aspects (design behavior and management behavior) and to figure out the different impact these two behaviors might have.
Design/methodology/approach: In order to verify the reasonableness of the assumptions, expert investigation was used by the means of semi-structured interview. And the Structural Equation Modeling?SEM? is estimated using 850 individual questionnaire responses from five companies in the form of Likert-type scale. What’s more, taking the measurement error causing by common method biases into consideration, Univariate Testing was taken to measure the deviation effect.
Findings: The results obtained with this description showed that certain measures should be adopt by managers to develop purposively the safety knowledge and safety motivation of the skilled labor migrations (SLMs).
Research limitations/implications: Unsafe behavior, which has aroused extensive concern in recent years, is the subject of many safety management studies. However, there have not been any studies on the influence of management behavior on SLMs unsafe behavior.
Practical implications: As the unsafe behavior of SLMs is the most important accident reason, this paper may help reduce the incidence of accidents.
Originality/value: The conclusion of this study will certainly provide the beneficial reference views on the management behavior.

Purpose: We aim at “heavy traffic direction” and “light traffic direction” in two-way waterway
traffic and attempt to promote the transit capacity of two-way waterway system.
Design/methodology/approach: We propose overtaking rules, head-on rules and a cellular
automaton model for variable two-way waterway on AIS-based on the basis of NaSch
(Nagel-Schreckenberg) model.
Findings: By numerical simulation to the two situations which allow changing lane and
prohibit changing lane, we obtain fundamental functions between traffic flux (speed) and
density and find that changing lane can promote traffic flux and average speed of two-way
waterway system under the premise of no impact to the traffic order, and when waterway ship
traffic is dense, flux of waterway system has a visible promotion, and when traffic is sparse,
average speed of waterway system adds significantly.
Practical implications: As an implication, we can reach a compromise between traffic
efficiency and safety. When no collision risk incurred, the marine administrations should allow
involved ships to change lane for overtaking.
Social implications: As a suggestion, Rule 9 and Rule 10 of COLREGs should make some
adjustments correspondingly.
Originality/value: The paper presents a method to analyze and promote transit capacity of
two-way waterway.

Purpose: Aim at making a support scheme for emergency spare parts when large equipment
spare parts supply network faced with large-scale emergency events.
Design/methodology/approach: In order to analyze the model, we establish the spare parts
security model under network supply conditions to respond emergency in case of fuzzy
demand. And in end of the paper, we adopt an improved genetic algorithm to solve the
problem.
Findings: Considering emergency spare parts support problem from three aspects including
satisfaction of time, satisfaction of demand and emergency cost constraints, which makes
decision-making process more accord with reality condition, we can get a more realistic solution
for the decision makers.
Originality/value: Considering the occurrence of emergency and adopting information
entropy theory to order the weight of emergency maintenance station in priority sequence, this
paper presented emergency response time and demand satisfaction function, which uses the
time, demand satisfaction and the cost restrictor as objective functions, we have constructed the
spare parts support model under fuzzy demand to solve emergency events, having expanded
the scope of solution.

Gao, Ruize [et al.]. Gains and losses from collusion: an empirical study on market behaviors of China’s power enterprises. "Journal of Industrial Engineering and Management", Juliol 2015, vol. 8, núm. 3, p. 946-962.
2013-0953
http://hdl.handle.net/2117/84440
B-28744-2008
Purpose: Collusion is a common behavior of oligarch enterprises aiming to get an advantage
in market competition. The purpose of the research is to explore positive or negative effects
from the electricity generation manufacturers’ collusion through statistical analysis approach. To
be exact, these effects are discovered both in market economy at a macro-economic level and in
enterprise behaviors at a micro-economic level.
Design/methodology/approach: This research designs a model as an extension of Porter’s
model (Green & Porter, 1984). In this model FIML is applied. Taking price bidding project
launched in China’s power industry as an example, this paper conducts an empirical research on
its relevant price data collected from subordinate power plants of China’s five power generation
groups in the pilots.
Findings: It is found in this paper that power generation enterprises are facing collusion issues
in the market. To be exact, it is such a situation in which non-cooperative competition and
collusion alternate. Under the competition, market is relatively steady, thus forming a lower
network price. It is helpful to the development of the whole industry. However, once Cartel is
formed, the price will rise and clash with power enterprises and transmission-distribution
companies concerning the interests conflicts. At the same time, a higher power price will form
in the market, making consumers suffer losses. All of these are bad for industry development. Not only the collusion of power enterprises affects power price but also the market power that
caused by long-time Cartel will reduce the market entrant in electricity generation. Market
resources are centralized in the hands of Cartel, causing a low effective competition in the
market, which has passive effects on users.
Implications: The empirical research also indicates that collusion undoubtedly benefits the
power enterprises that involved. As a cooperation pattern, collusion can lead to the synergy
between relevant companies. However, collusion harms the benefits of other market entities.
During the process of enterprises creating common interests cooperatively, collusion may bring
harm to the outside industry.
Originality/value: Using empirical research method, the paper takes China’s power industry as
an example to show the gains and losses of collusion from two aspects, namely market
economy and strategic management.

Purpose: A growing number of open source software emerges in many segments of the
software market. In addition, software products usually exhibit network externalities. The
purpose of this paper is to study the impact of open source software on the quality strategies
of proprietary software vendors when the market presents positive network externalities.
Design/methodology/approach: To analyze how open source software affects the quality of
proprietary software, this paper constructs two vertical differentiation models: the basic model
considers proprietary software monopolizing the market, and the extended model considers
proprietary software competing with open source substitute.
Findings: This paper mainly finds that the presence of open source software does not
necessarily lead to the improvement of proprietary software quality. The network externalities
and the compatibility between open source and proprietary software can change the impact of
open source software on the quality of proprietary software and affect the quality strategies of
proprietary software vendors under certain conditions.
Originality/value: The main contribution of this paper is to examine the effect of open
source software on the quality strategies for proprietary software vendors in software markets
with network externalities.

Purpose: the purpose of this study was to examine and obtain empirical evidence of the
effects of external and internal environmental factors on the strategy and performance of
manufacturing companies.
Design/methodology/approach: This study used primary data obtained by distributing
questionnaires to 150 respondents of manufacturing companies in Indonesia spreading over six
major cities in Java such as Jakarta, Banten, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Semarang and Surabaya.
Samples were taken by using the systematic random sampling technique. The technique was
used since those major cities had different numbers of manufacturing companies. Subsequently,
the feasibility of the model was tested. Several indices of model feasibility would be used to test
the model developed in this structural equation model. In case of a sub-optimal model, a model
modification was to be performed by adding or removing paths so that the chi-square values
would decrease by the values of the index.
Findings: Results showed that internal and external environmental factors, through the
operating environments and the remote environments of manufacturing industries, jointly
affected the companies’ understanding of the condition of the industrial environments to
establish strategic goals in order to achieve optimal performance of manufacturing industry Practical implications: The internal and external environmental factors through the operating
and remote environments had effects on the strategy of manufacturing companies in Indonesia.
However, both internal and external environments did not affect the performance of
manufacturing companies in Indonesia. There was a tendency that manufacturing companies
were to observe the occurring macro-economic conditions. Manufacturing industries were
faced with the pressures from competition, customers and suppliers that affected companies’
revenue. Performance of manufacturing industries was more influenced by macro-economic
conditions that have not recovered from the global crisis.
Originality/value: This study was conducted to determine the effects of environmental
factors on the corporate strategy and performance. The effects of the industrial environments
are crucial since the more complicated changes in the industrial environments the greater the
impacts it has on the resources, structures and processes in the company. Environmental
factors of the industry present both organizational strengths and weaknesses, which would
affect the strategy and performance of the industry.

methodology, which was run by the software of Vensim®.
Findings: With SD model, causal loop diagram and stock and flow diagram are constructed, as
well as some experiments and policy analysis. The research findings revealed that the increase
of average shipping capacity for a vehicle will bring a decrease in congestion and CO2 emission
directly and the decrease of the average fuel use for a vehicle can help with the reduction of
CO2 emission directly. Both the two parameters are the indirect causes of logistics demand
dynamics in Beijing.
Originality/value: Researches of this paper are aiming at handling logistics demand dynamics
of Beijing, problems belonging to the area of complex systems, with SD model, where, to the
best of our knowledge, no significant research has been done.

Purpose: By studying the case of a Changsha engineering machinery manufacturing firm, this
paper aims to find out the optimization tactics to reduce enterprise’s logistics operational
cost.
Design/methodology/approach: This paper builds the structure model of manufacturing
enterprise’s logistics operational costs from the perspective of social firm network and
simulates the model based on system dynamics.
Findings: It concludes that applying system dynamics in the research of manufacturing
enterprise’s logistics cost control can better reflect the relationship of factors in the system.
And the case firm can optimize the logistics costs by implement joint distribution.
Research limitations/implications: This study still lacks comprehensive consideration about
the variables quantities and quantitative of the control factors. In the future, we should
strengthen the collection of data and information about the engineering manufacturing firms
and improve the logistics operational cost model.
Practical implications: This study puts forward some optimization tactics to reduce
enterprise’s logistics operational cost. And it is of great significance for enterprise’s supply chain
management optimization and logistics cost control.
Originality/value: Differing from the existing literatures, this paper builds the structure model
of manufacturing enterprise’s logistics operational costs from the perspective of social firm
network and simulates the model based on system dynamics.

Purpose: This study analyzes the motivational factors for ISO 9001 certification in Bulgaria
from the internal/external motivations perspective, or the so-called dual model.
Design/methodology/approach: This study is based on a mixed method research approach,
which employed two interviews with experts in the field of quality management at the
exploratory stage, and a survey involving 127 companies at the descriptive stage.
Findings: This study claims that enhanced company image and competitiveness – an external
motivation - is the leading motivational factor for ISO 9001 certification in Bulgaria. At the
same time, our primary investigation reveals that Bulgarian firms are not predominantly
externally driven, for internal motivations including process improvement and product quality
improvement seem to be an important driver for ISO 9001 certification. Last but not least, this
research asserts that enhanced company image and competitiveness has a stronger impact on the
motivations for ISO 9001 certification than customer and supplier pressure, which is in line with
previous research works on developing economy economies such as Bulgaria. Finally, our study
indicates a moderate, yet positive correlation between motivations for and benefits of ISO 9001
certification. Social implications: This research work casts some light on the evolution of quality
management in Bulgaria since the end of communism, which can serve as an important
foundation for the better understanding of quality management in former communist
economies in general and Eastern European states in particular.
Originality/value: Derived from the acute gap between ISO studies in Western and former
communist economies, this research work presents one of the first official, international studies
in the field of ISO certification in Bulgaria, and more precisely, a paper describing the motives
for ISO 9001 certification among Bulgarian businesses.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to study whether there exists natural relationship
between fair value and corporate external market. A series of special phenomenon in the
application of fair value arouses our research interests, which present evidences on how
competition affects the correlation of fair value information.
Design/methodology/approach: this thesis chooses fair value changes gains and losses and
calculate the ratio of DFVPSit as the alternative variable of the fair value. In order to effectively
inspect the mutual influence between the degree of industry competition and the value
relevance of fair value, and reduce the impact of multi-collinearity, we built a regression model
on the hypothesis, which supposes that if other conditions are the same, the fair value
information has greater value relevance if the degree of the industry competition is greater. To
test the hypothesis, we use the comparison of the DFVPSit coefficient absolute value to judge
the value relevance of fair value information, and the greater the absolute value is, the higher
relevance between the changes in fair value per share profits and losses with the stock prices.
Findings: The higher the degree of competition in the industry is, the more fair value
information relevance is. Also, there are evidences representing that fair value information
often presents negative correlation with the stock price.Originality/value: The main contribution of the article is to show that not only need we make
the formulation and implementation of the high quality of fair value accounting standards to
suit for both the national conditions and international practice, but also need we further to
improve the company's external governance mechanism to promote fair value’s information
correlation.
