This work presents the study of a switching frequency regulation of a sliding mode control under tracking control scheme. A variable hysteresis band with an additional control loop is proposed and the equivalent system is developed in order to analyse the stability. Sufficient stability conditions are found for the resulting discrete-time, time varying system, using a feed forward term. The technique is applied to a voltage source inverter tracking a time varying voltage reference. Simulation results are presented in order to confirm the goodness of the switching frequency control loop
