dc.description.abstract | This article aims to deal with the insertion of high-speed roads in the territory; the great potential infrastructures have in creating landscape, as well as the importance of the territorial scale in the insertion process. If landscape is meant by “an area, as perceived by people, whose character is the result of the action and interaction of natural and/or human factors” (European Landscape Convention, 2000:2), the road network is the instrument by which the territory is discovered by population. That is to say the instrument that turns territory into landscape. At the same time, territorial scale is extremely important in the insertion process, as road landscape should not physically hold the road, but envelope it. Wandering is an act of physical transformation of the traversed space, but mainly an instrument to comprehend it. |
