Prácticum en Luis Parés S.L.

Abstract

Este trabajo de fin de grado relata mi experiencia, actividades y mi punto de vista crítico como ayudante de jefe de obra en la empresa constructora Luis Parés S.L., que realiza principalmente trabajos de rehabilitación. El objetivo principal de este trabajo consiste en la experiencia que puedo obtener entrando en el mundo de la construcción desde un punto de vista bastante más cercano, vivir el día a día en una empresa competitiva, observar la metodología de la propia empresa y sus trabajadores - principalmente el encargado y el jefe de obra- y lo que es más importante, conocerme a mí mismo realizando las actividades que me puedan asignar, descubrir mis aptitudes y capacidades para ejecutar las tareas. Mi falta de experiencia es evidente y tener esta oportunidad me ha resultado realmente importante a nivel personal y competitivo. Otro objetivo a tener en cuenta consiste en el factor humano, principalmente en observar el trabajo en equipo y la capacidad técnica para resolver problemas y tomar decisiones, la efectividad de los miembros con más responsabilidad en la obra y la organización de los mismos. Es un factor muy importante para una correcta evolución de la obra evitando retrasos y pérdidas que son las dos palabras que nadie quiere oír. Para realizar mi trabajo durante estos seis meses me han asignado un jefe de obra y en consecuencia la obra de la cual es el responsable. Esta persona se ha dedicado no solo a asignarme los trabajos a realizar sino también a orientarme y a ayudarme todo lo posible durante mi estancia en la empresa, además he aprendido muchos aspectos extras que desconocía de la construcción gracias a sus consejos. La obra asignada se encuentra en Barcelona, cerca de Arc de Triomf y consiste en una rehabilitación integral de un edificio para habilitar 25 viviendas. Se trata de una rehabilitación que abarca todas las fases de la construcción, desde el refuerzo estructural hasta los acabados Ha sido una suerte realizar el trabajo de esta obra ya que podría compararse con una ruina por la cantidad de defectos que tiene y he podido contemplar. Mi contribución con la empresa ha consistido en ayudar al jefe de obra en todas las labores que sean necesarias para agilizar su labor, pudiendo ser en la obra o en la oficina de la empresa. Mi labor ha consistido principalmente en el control de calidad de la obra, el control de las tareas de seguridad y salud tanto a nivel colectivo como individual, la actualización de planos y algunas tareas de campo. En resumen se podría decir que he sido un tercer ojo para el jefe de obra observando aspectos que se le pudieran escapar aportando mi punto de vista. La conclusión de mi trabajo en cuanto a la experiencia es sobresaliente, hay una gran diferencia entre el papel y la realidad, no todo es tan sencillo como parece, siempre surgen problemas y tenemos que saber responder ante ellos. En cuanto a la metodología debo decir que no todo puede realizarse de la mejor manera y muchas veces tenemos que improvisar porque no hay otra solución. Haciendo referencia al factor humano y a la organización, no se puede decir que haya sido un aspecto exitoso ya que el retraso de la obra y la realización de trabajos extra son hechos reales que han sucedido y han implicado un incremento de coste. En este trabajo explicaré todos los aspectos que he podido observar en la ejecución de esta rehabilitación integral durante seis meses, espero que les resulte interesante.

ENGLISH: In this dissertation I would like to explain my experience, series of tasks and my critical point of view as an assistant site manager at Luis Pares SL Construction Company, which its main duty consists in doing rehabilitation work. The aim of this internship is to acquire the maximum experience from the world of building in a rather closer view, living day to day in a competitive company, observing the methodology of the company and its workers - mainly the manager and the head chief- and more importantly, to get to know myself doing different activities while I am discovering new skills and abilities in order to perform my job. My lack of experience is evident and having this opportunity has been really important to me in a personal and professional level. Secondly, another important issue to consider is the human factor. Basically, it consists in observing how the team work is organised, as well as, their technical ability to solve problems and to take important decisions, their effectiveness and their different responsibilities. It is very important for the development of the project to avoid delays and losses, two words that nobody wants to hear about. In order to perform my work properly during these six months I have been committed to the chief of work and his own construction project. This member of the staff has been the responsible to assign me a series of duties, but also to guide me and assess me during my stay in the company. Moreover, I have learned a lot of information and tips that remained unknown for me about construction thanks to his advice. The project is located in Barcelona, close to Arc de Triomf. The work lay in a complete renovation of the building with the goal to enable 25 homes for living. It is a restoration that covers all phases of construction, from the structural reinforcement to the finishing touch. For that reason, it has been very beneficial to take part in this work because I could observe all the process from the beginning, considering it as a ruin with a lot of wrecks and defects. The main contribution I have done in the company was to assist the construction manager in all the necessary aspects to speed up his work, either in the field or in the office. My work consisted in the quality, safety and health control, all of them in a collective and individual level, updating plans and field work. To sum up, I could say that I have been a third eye to the manager by observing some aspects that he could miss and also giving my point of view. My conclusion in terms of experience is outstanding, there is a big difference between paper and reality, and everything is not as simple as it seems. There are always problems that could arise and we have to solve them as quick as possible. About the methodology, I must say that not everything can be done in the best way and we often have to improvise because there is no other solution. Referring to the human factor and the organization, it cannot be said that it has been a successful aspect of the work. The delay of the work and the performance of extra work are real events that usually happen and it implies an increase of the cost. In this paper I will explain all aspects that I have observed during the execution of a complete building rehabilitation for six months, I hope you will find it interesting.
