Abstract
The project presented here is a first step towards building a more accessible
world through Payment Systems and a successful implementation of a User
Centered Design. By means of a beep-system, a Point of Sale (POS) payment
device informs the user of those transaction steps that require his/her
attention at the moment of payment, such as when:
• The card has been successfully read.
• The Personal Identification Number (PIN) must be entered.
• The transaction has been successfully processed.
• The transaction has not been completed due to an error.
The proposed solution increases the personal autonomy and security of blind
people when paying at a merchant.
