  • Estimation of the synaptic conductance in a McKean-model neuron

Guillamon Grabolosa, Antoni; Prohens Sastre, Rafel; Teruel Aguilar, Antonio E.; Vich Llompart, Catalina (2015)
    Comunicació de congrés
    Accés obert
Estimating the synaptic conductances impinging on a single neuron directly from its membrane potential is one of the open problems to be solved in order to understand the flow of information in the brain. Despite the ...
  • An invitation to singular symplectic geometry

Miranda Galcerán, Eva; Delshams Valdés, Amadeu; Planas Bahí, Arnau; Oms, Cedric; Dempsey Bradell, Roisin Mary (2017)
    Report de recerca
    Accés obert
In this paper we analyze in detail a collection of motivating examples to consider bm- symplectic forms and folded-type symplectic structures. In particular, we provide models in Celestial Mechanics for every bm-symplectic ...
  • Gevrey estimates for one dimensional parabolic invariant manifolds of non-hyperbolic fixed points

Baldomá Barraca, Inmaculada; Fontich, Ernest; Martín, Pau (2017-08-01)
    Article
    Accés obert
We study the Gevrey character of a natural parameterization of one dimensional invariant manifolds associated to a parabolic direction of fixed points of analytic maps, that is, a direction associated with an eigenvalue ...
  • Stability of the phase motion in race-track microtrons

Kubyshin, Yu A.; Larreal Barreto, Oswaldo; Ramírez Ros, Rafael; Martínez-Seara Alonso, M. Teresa (2017-06-15)
    Article
Accés restringit per política de l'editorial
We model the phase oscillations of electrons in race-track microtrons by means of an area preserving map with a fixed point at the origin, which represents the synchronous trajectory of a reference particle in the beam. ...
  • On the construction of elliptic solutions of integrable birational maps

Petrera, Matteo; Pfadler, Andreas; Suris, Yuri B.; Fedorov, Yuri (2017-01-01)
    Article
Accés restringit per política de l'editorial
We present a systematic technique to find explicit solutions of birational maps, provided that these solutions are given in terms of elliptic functions. The two main ingredients are the following: (i) application of classical ...
  • Sigma-function solution to the general Somos-6 recurrence via hyperelliptic Prym varieties

Fedorov, Yuri; Hone, Andy (Oxford University Press, 2016-09-09)
    Article
    Accés obert
We construct the explicit solution of the initial value problem for sequences generated by the general Somos-6 recurrence relation, in terms of the Kleinian sigma-function of genus 2. For each sequence there is an associated ...
  • Arnold diffusion for a complete family of perturbations

Delshams Valdés, Amadeu; Gonçalves Schaefer, Rodrigo (Springer, 2017-01-01)
    Article
    Accés obert
    In this work we illustrate the Arnold diffusion in a concrete example — the a priori unstable Hamiltonian system of 2 + 1/2 degrees of freedom H(p, q, I, f, s) = p2/2+ cos q - 1 + I2/2 + h(q, f, s; e) — proving that for ...
  • A unified approach to explain contrary effects of hysteresis and smoothing in nonsmooth systems

Bonet Revés, Carles; Martínez-Seara Alonso, M. Teresa; Fossas Colet, Enric; Jeffrey, Mike R. (2017-09-01)
    Article
Accés restringit per política de l'editorial
Piecewise smooth dynamical systems make use of discontinuities to model switching between regions of smooth evolution. This introduces an ambiguity in prescribing dynamics at the discontinuity: should the dynamics be given ...
  • Central configurations of the planar coorbial satellite problem

Cors Iglesias, Josep Maria; Llibre Saló, Jaume; Ollé Torner, Mercè (2004-10)
    Article
    Accés obert
We study the planar central configurations of the 1 +n body problem where one mass is large and the other n masses are infinitesimal and equal. We find analytically all these central configurations when 2=n=4. Numerically, ...
  • Phasic firing and coincidence detection by subthreshold negative feedback: divisive or subtractive or, better, both

Huguet Casades, Gemma; Meng, Xiangying; Rinzel, John (2017-02-02)
    Article
    Accés obert
Phasic neurons typically fire only for a fast-rising input, say at the onset of a step current, but not for steady or slow inputs, a property associated with type III excitability. Phasic neurons can show extraordinary ...
