L'objectiu principal del grup se centra en el desenvolupament i optimització de Sistemes de Producció Aqüícola que contribueixin a minimitzar l'impacte de l'aqüicultura sobre el medi ambient, diversificar la producció i millorar la qualitat dels productes aqüícoles.
La transferència al sector productiu dels resultats obtinguts i la formació d'investigadors son també aspectes prioritaris que cal assolir mitjançant la col·laboració amb empreses i administracions i la implicació en la direcció de tesis doctorals, treballs de grau i de màster.
