OLED feasibility study in the automotive sector

Abstract

The aim of this study is to know the limits, advantages and disadvantages of the organic light emitting diodes (OLED) to be used as a lighting source in the gear shifter manufacturing. To do this we developed a prototype that was illuminated with a flexible deep blue OLED and analysed their emission in terms of luminance and colour across its surface as well as over time. We also conducted a durability test at room temperature with periodical photometric and colorimetric measurements. The results were analysed taking into account the recommendations of the engineering specification based on a German standard used for this purpose.
