Estudi de l’evolució de la vegetació en la zona del llac Txad des de l'any 2000 fins al 2014 amb imatges dels satèl·lits SPOT, MODIS i PROBA-V

Abstract

En aquest treball s’estudia l’evolució de la vegetació en la zona del llac Txad des de l’any 2000 fins a l’any 2013 per mitjà d’anàlisis de sèries temporals d’imatges d’índex de vegetació de diferència normalitzada (NDVI) dels sensors MODIS, SPOTVEGETATION i PROBA-V; i es comparen els resultats que s’han obtingut entre ells. El llac Txad és un llac que està situat a la frontera entre el Txad, Níger, Nigèria i Camerun, a l'Àfrica. Es tracta del quart llac més gran d’Àfrica però actualment està en perill i pot desaparèixer. Ha sofert una gran disminució d’extensió amb el pas dels anys i d’ell depenen els 15 milions de persones que viuen al seu voltant. Gràcies a les diferents tècniques de teledetecció que existeixen, s’obté molta informació útil per a realitzar seguiments de la superfície terrestre i estudiar diversos fenòmens que afecten a ella. Monitorejar l’estat de la coberta vegetal i identificar la seva tendència és important per planificar estratègies per a la seva conservació. Comparar els tres sensors utilitzats mostra quines són les diferències entre ells i com varien els seus resultats. A partir de les imatges NDVI provinents dels diferents sensors i mitjançant una metodologia que s’explica en aquest treball, s’han generat diferents gràfiques sobre la tendència de la vegetació i s’han pogut comparar entre elles. S’observa que l’evolució de la vegetació en la zona del llac Txad és positiva. També s’han comparat els resultats d’NDVI obtinguts pels diferents sensors i analitzant el grau de correlació que tenen entre ells, s’han pogut apreciar les diferències que hi ha.

ENGLISH: This work examines the evolution of the vegetation in the area of Lake Chad from 2000 to 2013 by means of analysis of time series of images of normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) of sensors MODIS, and SPOT-VEGETATION and PROBA-V; and comparing the results obtained between them. Chad Lake is an African lake that is situated on the border between Chad, Niger, Nigeria and Cameroon. It is the fourth largest lake in Africa but it is currently threatened and may disappear. It has suffered a decline of extension along the time and 15 million people who live around depend on it. Thanks to the many existing remote sensing techniques, you can get a lot of useful information to carry out monitoring of the Earth's surface and study various phenomena that affect it. Monitoring the state of the vegetation cover and identify the trend is important to plan strategies for its conservation. Comparing the three sensors which are used shows the differences between them and how the results vary. From NDVI images from different sensors and using a methodology that is explained in this work, it has been generated different graphs on the trend of vegetation which have been compared to each other. It is observed that the evolution of the vegetation on the Lake Chad area is positive. Also, it has been compared the results of NDVI obtained with different sensors and analyzing the degree of correlation between them it has been possible to appreciate the differences.
