Analysis of structures composed by thin plates such as beams used for prismatic structures, some kinds of plates or even bridges can be done using FSM. In all the mentioned structures mechanical and material properties are constant in both the transversal and longitudinal direction, and so the problem can be simplified combining FEM and Fourier series to model the transversal and longitudinal behavior. The main objective of this project is to develop a program capable of using FSM to analyze different kinds of structures. However, in order to create and use this software it is crucial to have a complete understanding of both the structural problem and all the factors that affect this analysis. Therefore, in the project there will also be developed the whole theory behind the Finite Strip Method.
