El grup DAMA-UPC s'especialitza en la gestió de grans volums de dades amb especial èmfasi en el rendiment i la qualitat de les dades. Té en compte les necessitats del kernel de la base de dades, centrant-se especialment en l'optimitzador i el motor d'execució, o el repositori de dades bàsic ubicat per sobre del sistema de fitxers del SO. Les seves habilitats permeten la millora del rendiment en aplicacions executades amb les dades en memòria i en aplicacions executades amb les dades a disc.

DAMA-UPC és membre de la Xarxa IT pertanyent al Departament d'Industria de la Generalitat de Catalunya des del començament del 2005.
