El grup de recerca en Tecnologies de Fabricació té activitat de recerca en tres branques principals: la fabricació additiva, els processos de fabricació i la fabricació integrada per ordinador. Pel que fa a la fabricació additiva, s'està treballant principalment en la tecnologia FDM (Deposició per Modelatge Fos), tant per a impressió de plàstics (PLA) com de ceràmiques (zircònia), amb una variant del procés en la qual el material se subministra a la màquina de forma discontínua. S'està estudiant tant les dimensions com les toleràncies geomètriques, l'acabat superficial i la resistència mecànica de les provetes. En l'àrea dels processos de fabricació, s'estudia l'acabat superficial obtingut mitjançant diferents processos com el fresatge, el brunyiment amb pedra abrasiva o honing, el brunyiment amb bola, l'electroerosió o el conformat de xapa. Pel que fa a la fabricació integrada per ordinador, s'està treballant en el camp dels robots autònoms i dels robots simuladors del moviment humà.

El objectivo principal del Grupo de Investigación en Tecnologías de Fabricación es hacer investigación aplicada en las diferentes Tecnologias de Fabricación, en cuanto a los procesos en si, a las metodologias, a los sistemas asistidos por ordenador y a la integración de diferentes tecnologias.
