El CITCEA és un grup de recerca i de transferència tecnològica de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya especialitzat en tot tipus d’aplicacions on esdevingui necessari el control de l’energia i/o del moviment. En aquest àmbit, les tecnologies desenvolupades són: l’electricitat, l’electrònica de control, l’electrònica de potència, les comunicacions industrials i el control digital amb processadors. I les aplicacions d’aquestes tecnologies comprenen des de l’automatització de processos i màquines fins les energies renovables i la xarxa elèctrica, entre d'altres.
Amb més de 13 anys d’existència, el centre el formen 60 persones (incloent estudiants i col•laborador estrangers) i ha realitzat més de 190 projectes de recerca i de transferència tecnològica (incloent projectes per convocatòries competitives), ha treballat per més de 120 empreses, té l'autoria de 9 patents, una spin-off i dins de la seva producció científica s’inclouen més de 150 publicacions i 200 ponències a congressos.
