Development and analysis of advanced signal processing techniques with emphasis on their application to communication and location systems. Wireless communication networks at the personal, local and cellular levels up to satellite and deep space communications constitute areas of special interest, as well as location and navigation systems adequate to these environments. The fields in which our research group enjoys considerably experience and in which we will foreseeably be engaged in the future are the following: design of advanced satellite communication systems, development of wireless communication systems with multiple transmitting/receiving antennas, development of advanced location and navigation systems and optimization of resource allocation schemes for decentralized wireless communication systems and networks.

Contextual multi-armed bandits for non-stationary wireless network selection
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2023)
Text en actes de congrés
Accés obertAs the number of wireless technologies (4G, 5G, 802.11ax and other) have been rapidly increasing, so have the number of wireless networks concurrently deployed on a given coverage area. As a result, the judicious selection ... -
Relation between quantum advantage in supervised learning and quantum computational advantage
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2023-12-26)
Article
Accés obertThe widespread use of machine learning has raised the question of quantum supremacy for supervised learning as compared to quantum computational advantage. In fact, a recent work shows that computational and learning ... -
Concentration properties of random codes
(2023-09-05)
Article
Accés obertThis paper shows that, for discrete memoryless channels, the error exponent of a randomly generated code with independent codewords converges in probability to its expectation—the typical error exponent. For high rates, ... -
Sidelobe suppression for multicarrier signals via structured spectral precoding
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2024-01-22)
Article
Accés obertReducing the large sidelobes of multicarrier signals is crucial to prevent adjacent channel interference. Spectral precoding is an effective approach toward this goal, at the expense of throughput loss due to precoder ... -
A survey of 5G-based positioning for industry 4.0: state of the art and enhanced techniques
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2023)
Text en actes de congrés
Accés obertThe fifth generation (5G) mobile communication technology integrates communication, positioning, and mapping functionalities as an in-built feature. This has drawn significant attention from industries owing to the capability ... -
Correlation study between the performance in different engineering courses and project-based courses
(NTNU SEED, 2023)
Comunicació de congrés
Accés obertIn a previous study, already published (Bragós, 2022), we analyzed the correlation between the University access mark to the engineering studies with the grades obtained in projectbased courses and in non-project-based ... -
Minimum error entropy estimation under contaminated Gaussian noise
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2023-10-12)
Article
Accés obertIt is shown that Rényi's entropy of a Gaussian mixture with entropic index α∈(1,∞] is upper-bounded by the cluster with minimum variance. This basic idea leads to a clean worst-case formulation of the minimum error entropy ... -
Higher-order link prediction via learnable maximum mean discrepancy
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2023)
Text en actes de congrés
Accés obertHigher-order link prediction (HOLP) seeks missing links capturing dependencies among three or more network nodes. Predicting high-order links (HOLs) can for instance reveal hyperlinks in the structure of drug substance and ... -
Subspace leakage in conventional and dimensionally spread null-space communications
(2023-10)
Article
Accés obertThis letter evaluates the impact of subspace leakage in conventional (single-dimension) and dimensionally spread null-space precoding schemes. This phenomenon arises when the null-space inference procedure lacks precision ... -
Prediction models using artificial intelligence and longitudinal data from electronic health records: a systematic methodological review
(2023-12)
Article
Accés obertObjective: To describe and appraise the use of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques that can cope with longitudinal data from electronic health records (EHRs) to predict health-related outcomes. Methods: This ... -
Optimizing access demand for mMTC traffic using neural networks
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2023-12)
Article
Accés obertMachine-type communications show unique spatial and temporal correlation properties that often lead to bursty access demand profiles. With the expected large-scale deployment of the Internet of Things (IoT), next-generation ... -
Multiqubit time-varying quantum channels for NISQ-era superconducting quantum processors
(American Physical Society, 2023-07)
Article
Accés obertTime-varying quantum channels (TVQCs) have been proposed as a model to include fluctuations of the relaxation (T1) and dephasing times (T2). In previous works, realizations of multiqubit TVQCs have been assumed to be equal ...
