Abstract

Cet article traite de la synthese des formes polyedriques aux fins architecturales. Nous donnons, a titre d’introduction, les methodes geometriques de base a employer. Ensuite nous suivons le developpement de deux projets d’ebauche intimement lies. Le projet # 1 est un complexe d’habitat a densite moyenne. Ici les criteres initiaux &ant le contenu et les fonctions, les formes finales se sont developpees a partir de ces points de depart. Le projet # 2 est un complexe d’habitat a haute densite. Dans ce cas, I’etude a debut6 avec le mod&e du reseau de circulation horizontal et vertical. La solution finale est une reponse morphologique a cet “echafaudage” abstrait.

This article investigates the synthesis of polyhedral forms for architectural purposes. By way of introduction we explain the basic geometrical methods to be used. Then we follow the development of two closely related design projects. Project # 1 is a medium density housing complex. Here the initial criteria were content and functions, and the final forms evolved from these beginnings. Project # 2 is a high density housing complex. In this instance the study began with a model of the circulation pattern, horizontal and vertiCal.0The final solution is a morphological response to this abstract “scaffolding”.
