dc.description.abstract | In this paper we describe some general non-linear programming algorithms, with extended application. These algorithms are: MAP (Method of Approximation Programming), GR (Reduced Gradient), GRG (Generalized Reduced Gradient), GRG2, MINOS (Modular In-Core Non-Linear Optimization System) and CGAP (Conjugate Gradient Approximating Programming). They share the following characteristics: (a) don't need that the problem be convex for its convergence, but if it is non-convex, the local optimum doesn't garantee the global optimum, (b) combine unconstrained optimization methods with linear programming methods, (c) use the reduced gradient and the reduced hessian matrix of the objective function to calculate the desplacement direction of variables, and (d) they are been validated with real world problems. Also we describe the main differences between these algorithms and respect to the SAL (Sequential Augmented Lagrangian) methods. Finally we take the tendency of the future research in this field. |
