El subministrament d'electricitat exigeix la selecció de les unitats de producció més adients entre les disponibles a cada interval de temps. La consideració de les diferències entre les circumstàncies operatives a curt termini de les unitats tèrmiques i hidràuliques apunten la conveniència d'assignacions tèrmiques i hidràuliques desacoblades encara que coordinades. Es formulen les constriccions i funció objectiu de l'assignació tèrmica i es justifica l'aplicació d'una metodologia de bifurcació acotada per a optimitzar-la

The continuous supply of electricity in power systems necessitates a choice of the most suitable, among the available generating units, for each time interval. The consideration of the differences between the operating and security constraints of the hydro, and of thermal units, points out the convenience of a coordinated but decoupled hydro and thermal short term commitment. The constraints and objective function of the thermal commitment are first laid out and through an analysis of them it is seen that the branch-and-bound technique is well suited for the solution of this problem. The techniques employed to avoid too large an amount of time and memory required for the solution, are shown and the results obtained are analyzed.
