dc.description.abstract | Liquid crystal (LC) devices are increasingly attracting much interest for applications where an electrical control of light is required. In this work, a nematic LCbased optical deflector has been designed, fabricated and characterized. An incident laser beam is deflected laterally due to the creation, by a specially designed electric field distribution inside the cell, of a LC’s refractive index gradient.
