Cold formed elements are very useful because of their high ratio of strength / weight ratio compared with other structural materials. Special care must be taken in regard to the phenomena of instability. Web crippling is a critical localized buckling that in areas or concentrated loads acting on supports on which the stresses are too high. Eurocode 3, Part 1-3 does not fit properly this phenomena and a new proposal for stainless steel has been developed. The current minor thesis will try to demonstrate the applicability of this proposal to carbon steel.
