The present document specifies the adaptation of an ultrasonic rangefinder in a two-dimensional object recognition system. The base system is constituted by PSoC (Programmable System-on-Chip) evaluation kit made by Cypress semiconductor. This system allows to take distance measures in two dimensions, depth and height, and send the data to the computer via serial port communication RS232. These data can be stored and displayed in real time thanks to an application created with the graphical environment LabView. The use of PSoC allows to minimize the size of the whole system and provides the indispensable elements for the implementation of an ultrasonic distance measurement system without unnecessary additional components. This system is autonomous thought the use of batteries and thanks to the PSoC's low consumption.
