dc.description.abstractThe student work experience took place on the North of France, from the 16th of May till the 6th of October, in the APERAM company, which is a global stainless steel producer. Its industrial network is distributed in three different countries: Brazil, Belgium and France. In APERAMs plant in Isbergues, stainless steel is produced to satisfy a wide variety of markets (automobile industry, home applications, industrial environments and the construction Market). My working place has been the Fluids department, which is responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the various energy grids that supply to the whole industrial complex, for the production of steel. These energy grids consist of the following elements: overheated water ( or pressurised water), water softening, water filtering , flocculated water, ground water or well water, decarbonised water, compressed air, oxygen, nitrogen and natural gas. Recently the plant has suffered a reduction in the production and thus a decrease in the energy consumption. Therefore an adaption to the new demand is needed, cutting back the machines, instruments and architecture of the various energy grids in order to save energy costs. In the research, various stages are analysed in order to reach each solution. Firstly, a study of all the consumptions and costs is required to find the most suitable economically speaking. Once that is finished, the required technical modifications will be presented. A technical study will be made in order to analyse the viability of the modifications presented; to see if we are still within the security limits and at the same time identify and calculate from where the economic savings are obtained and how much they amount to(Technical-economic study). Finally, the economic profitability will be evaluated to take future decisions. More specifically, modifications in the overheated water (or pressurised) circuit will be studied.
