On the time decay of solutions for non-simple elasticity with voids
Liu, Zhuangyi; Magaña Nieto, Antonio; Quintanilla de Latorre, Ramón
In this work we consider the non-simple theory of elastic material with voids and we investigate how the coupling of these two aspects of the material affects the behavior of the solutions. We analyze only two kind of different behavior, slow or exponential decay. We introduce four different dissipation mechanisms in the system and we study, in each case, the effect of this mechanism in the behavior of the solutions.

Sliding mode control of a voltage source inverter with switching frequency regulation
Repecho del Corral, Víctor; Biel Solé, Domingo; Olm Miras, Josep Maria; Fossas Colet, Enric
This work presents the study of a switching frequency regulation of a sliding mode control under tracking control scheme. A variable hysteresis band with an additional control loop is proposed and the equivalent system is developed in order to analyse the stability. Sufficient stability conditions are found for the resulting discrete-time, time varying system, using a feed forward term. The technique is applied to a voltage source inverter tracking a time varying voltage reference. Simulation results are presented in order to confirm the goodness of the switching frequency control loop

Development of air quality indexes using compositional approach

A compositional approach to air quality index (AQI) based on a log-contrast of pollutants over non-polluted air fraction was recently developed. This approach let to three open questions about consistency and formalization of such index. First question is to find out the conditions under which the approximation of the log-contrast by the logarithm of the geometric mean of pollutants concentrations, are reliable. Second, is to examine a way to define a reasonable scale for express air quality, taking into account the effects of air pollution on population health and on social or economic activity. The third one is to find out the properties of this kind of index with respect to the addition of a new set of air pollutants in the composition. To deal with these open questions, a decision making tree should be designed in order to select suitable weights on the air pollutants. A preliminary application study of air pollutants composition distribution in some cities is presented. In addition, the approach of the log-contrast by the logarithm of the weighted geometric mean is described for these cities.

Wind model for offshore power simulation
Hervada Sala, Carme; Jarauta Bragulat, Eusebio; Gibergans Baguena, José; Buenestado Caballero, Pablo
Offshore wind energy is an alternative energy source of increased interest. A large offshore wind farms have been planned or under construction, mainly in northern Europe. One of the points needed to be able to implement offshore projects is to characterize and model the wind for marine generation. Models are needed for the design of the most appropriate control strategies. Some attempts have been done to do so; recently these models are implemented under a wind turbine block set in Matlab/Simulink. A handicap has been detected: adjustment of wind turbulence using a white noise function. In this paper, a modification of that model is presented, based on real data and a wind model block in Matlab/Simulink has been performed to implement a new noise function with better results than the standard white noise function.

Advanced design of integrated vibration control systems for adjacent buildings under seismic excitations
Palacios Quiñonero, Francisco; Rubió Massegú, Josep; Rossell Garriga, Josep Maria; Karimi, Hamid Reza
In vibration control of adjacent buildings under seismic excitations, a twofold objective has to be considered: (i) to mitigate the vibrational response of the individual structures and (ii) to provide a suitable protection against interbuilding impacts (pounding). An interesting strategy to deal with this complex control problem consists in considering an integrated control system, which combines interbuilding actuation devices with local control systems implemented in the individual buildings. In this paper, an effective computational strategy to design this kind of integrated control systems is presented. The proposed design methodology is based on a linear matrix inequality formulation, allows including active and passive actuation devices, and makes it possible to deal with important information constraints associated to the problem. The main ideas are illustrated by means of a twobuilding systemequipped with three actuation devices: two interstory actuation devices implemented at the ground level of the buildings, plus an interbuilding actuation device installed at the top level of the lowest building. For this control setup, two different integrated controllers are designed. A proper set of numerical simulations is
conducted to assess the performance of the proposed controllers with positive results.

Decisiveness indices are semiindices
Freixas Bosch, Josep; Pons Vallès, Montserrat
In this note we prove that any decisiveness index, defined for any voter as the probability of him/her being decisive, is a semiindex when the probability distribution over coalitions is anonymous, and it is a semiindex with binomial coefficients when the probability over coalitions is anonymous and independent.

Some properties for probabilistic and multinomial (probabilistic) values on cooperative games
Domènech Blázquez, Margarita; Giménez Pradales, José Miguel; Puente del Campo, María Albina
We investigate the conditions for the coefficients of probabilistic and multinomial values of cooperative games necessary and/or sufficient in order to satisfy some properties, including marginal contributions, balanced contributions, desirability relation and null player exclusion property. Moreover, a similar analysis is conducted for transfer property of probabilistic power indices on the domain of simple games.

An educational example to the maximum power transfer objective in electric circuits using a PD-controlled DC- driver
Acho Zuppa, Leonardo
The main objective of this paper is to present an academic example of a PD
controller applied to teach position control design of a DC-motor to automatically adjust a
potentiometer. This adjustment is focused on to solve the maximum power transfer objective
in a linear electrical circuit. This design involves the use of the extremum seeking algorithm. To
support our proposal, numerical simulations and mathematical modelling of the main problem
statement are programmed.

Non-commutative integrable systems on b-symplectic manifolds
Miranda Galcerán, Eva; Kiesenhofer, Anna
In this paper we study non-commutative integrable systems on
b-Poisson manifolds. One important source of examples (and motiva-
tion) of such systems comes from considering non-commutative systems on manifolds with boundary having the right asymptotics on the boundary. In this paper we describe this and other examples and we prove an action-angle theorem for non-commutative integrable systems on a b-symplectic manifold in a neighbourhood of a Liouville torus inside the critical set of the Poisson structure associated to the b-symplectic structure
