They are very diverse the occasions in which the use of the Systems of Geographical Information
for to represent variables distributed spatially. Indeed new technologies facilitated
graphic representations to carry out achieving results aesthetically notables. However,
the most important thing is frequently neglected: the application of a best method to determine
the values in those place where has not been carried out a direct measure of the
variable or attribute. This work presents “geo-statistic” like a methodology to analyze correctly
information coming from space samplings.

The common use of global positioning systems, and specially GPS, in work like survey,
cartography, photogrammmetry, LIDAR... make it necessary have a gemid model to
transform ellipsoidal to orthometric heights used in engineering. Because of the lack of
parallelism between both reference systems not to have these models can produce important
errors since the variation can take values of 10cm/Km or more in some areas, for
example in the SW of Spain. If we do not consider this difference in the elaboration of
DTM used to design substructure can happen that in gravity canalization the water does
not arrive at the wanted point

Nowadays is very common to obtain spatial information using global digital models obtained
by RADAR techniques in campaigns carried out by governmental organisations which
put them at public’s disposal in Internet. The resolution of these models is very variable,
oscillating from 5’ to 30” of arc, but we can find them much denser, like SRTM which allow
to have, in function of the geographical location, a resolution between 30m and 90m. These
models can be useful to get to small and medium scale ortophotomap, with enough
accuracy to work in cartography, and engineering projects, saving money and time in the
producing process.

Silva, Reginaldo Macedônio da; Furtado, Marisa Freitas; Silva, Álison Silveira da; Carpeggiani, Jésun R.
Centro universitário Feevale has been considerably enlarged at campus II since 1999.
Being exactly, within five years (1999 - 2004), there it currently keeps a count of 17,000
students from nearly 4,500 ones before. The infrastructural buildings amazingly have led
an increase of 6 to 15 ones. Therefore, it comes out of managing the necessary new
areas to ease the right decisions taken by the Academic Support and Administration departments,
which have to prompt the maintenance equipment services (such as air conditioner,
fire extinguishers, drinkers, computers), and help setting classes up, with which
one may get the rooms facilities. At the Geoprocess laboratory of Urban and Architecture
school, Geographic Information System (GIS) was developed for facilities management.
Also, it was possible to make a graphical database by the ArchiBus/FM software through
the GIS, (turning most the paper plans into digital format) as well as a textual one (holding
campus II infrastructure and equipment information).
As a result of this project, it was achieved better lowering time internal services as accuracy
as precautionary and better setting classes up, helping the Academic Support and
Administration departments for taking decision on.

Metodología para Inventario de Humedales

An automated methodology for the inventory of wetlands in Uruguay was designed, defining
a specific technical criteria for their determination. It was necessary to use a combination
of procedures and technological tools (Remote Sensing, Digital Photogrammetry,
GIS) to process the available information. The following data has been considered: very
low sloped terrains (out of a digital terrain model), soils with characteristical moisture behavior,
basins and areas with hydrophile vegetation (using satellite images classification).
All these variables have been combined in a categorization algorithm to produce specific
thematic cartography.

Territorio contemporáneo: lectura diagramática del espacio intersticial
Sebastián Fariña, Fernando; Schaposnik, Viviana
Is shown a research about interstitial space, aiming to the systematical comprehension of
the problematic in the territory, trough the design of a diagramatic reading tool. In a first
stage it has been studied incidental concepts, work that has driven to the construction of
a classificatory hypothesis. At the same time, an analysis of antecedent categories, allowed
to deduce a first series of specific parameters. A field-work followed by a posterior
laboratory-work about two samples meant an empirical verification instance, results that
were synthesized through a diagramatic process, allowing the reading in the stated specific
terms.

Modelización 3D de Zonas Urbanas con SIG

This paper introduces a methodology for the development of a high quality 3D city model
using geographical informational system (SIG) tools and its possible applications in urban
planning decision making. The approach used for modelling discusses the use of SIG instead
of traditional CAD modelling. The final model includes an average total of 16.468
buildings in an area of 4,5 km_, with over 500,000 polygons. The longer term aim is to incorporate
new data to the model including trees, urban furniture, new urban projects and
be able to apply real-time queries for use as a public urban planning and evaluation tool.

Catastro Urbano y ciudades virtuales 3D en Latinoamérica

In urban areas, development and growth do not always occur in the most desirable sectors.
The effort to try to find better means to explain the mysteries of urban processes is
an ongoing task that must approach economic theory and social science with some form
of geographic explanation. One of the possible reasons why this type of approach has still
not been developed (leaving aside political or ideological considerations) may be the fact
that the cities, with all the complexity that characterizes them, constitute such particular
objects of study that they cannot be understood by general theory on urbanism. New cadastral
systems can contribute enormously to a new vision of cities and urban planning.

Conocimiento y producción del espacio de los flujos
Malmond, Alicia Violeta; Balmaceda, María Isabel
This article attempts to make an approach to the concept of virtual City, specifically the
knowledge and production of the space of flows, which is implicit in much of the current
debate surrounding Technologies of Communication and Information and the future of cities.
Two approaches are made, one from the point of view of the relevance of the space
of flows, the other from the persistence of the city as a system of places. Also globalization,
exclusion and segregation are analyzed under the frame of the relations between
spaces of flows and places, between global and local scale .; El objetivo de este ensayo es plantear
una aproximación conceptual al tema
Ciudad virtual, en particular al conocimiento
y producción del espacio de los
flujos.

This paper addresses the city of Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, and describes the course of its
development within Brazilian historical context. It analyses the fluxes and areas of influence
of the city, in order to understand its development in terms of urban morphology. The
analysis is based on historical research and is supported by graphic diagrams.
