Purpose: The requirements for high quality and diversification aquatic products are increasing
with the improvement of Chinese living standard. However, the distribution between the place
of production and the place of consumption are uneven, which results in large cold-chain
logistics demand for aquatic products. At present, the low-level development of cold chain
logistics has a bad impact on the circulation of aquatic products in China. So it is very urgent to
develop cold-chain logistics in China.
Design/methodology/approach: In order to do this, we apply performance evaluation, a
well-known management tool, to study Chinese aquatic product cold-chain logistics. In this
paper we first propose SISP (Subjects, Indexes, Standards, and Phases of performance
evaluation) model and ACSSN model (Aquatic product, Customer, Supply Chain, Society, and
Node enterprises of supply chain) for aquatic products cold-chain logistics performance
evaluation. Then an ANP-Fuzzy method is proposed to evaluate the operational performance
of Shandong Oriental Ocean Sci-Tech Co., Ltd. Furthermore, a system dynamic model is built
to simulate the impact of temperature on the profits in aquatic products cold-chain sales
section. Findings: We find out within a reasonable temperature range, lower temperature brings higher
profit level. Also, performance improvement methods are proposed and the simulation of
performance evaluation system is developed.
Practical implications: Our findings can help to improve the level of aquatic product coldchain
logistics in China.

Liu, Pei; Mu, Dong
Purpose: Targeting the problem of overloaded trucking regarding the Highway Transportation
of iron ore from Caofeidian to Tangshan (HTCT), this paper aims to assess the long-term
effects of alternative Truck Weight Regulation (TWR) policies on the sustainability of the
HTCT.
Design/methodology/approach: This paper develops a model for policy evaluation using
System Dynamics (SD). The model, comprising six interrelated modules, is capable of
simulating the effects of TWR policies on trucking issues, such as freight flow, truck traffic
flow, pavement performance, highway transport capacity and trucking time. The model further
sheds light on the Cumulative Economic Cost (CEC), including the transport cost and time
cost of freight owners, and the Cumulative Social Cost (CSC), including the pavement
maintenance cost, greenhouse gas emission cost, atmospheric pollutants emission cost and
traffic accidents cost, so the effects of TWR policies on the sustainability of the HTCT could
be evaluated.
Findings: According to the different values of the overload ratio that are allowed by policy,
alternative TWR policies are classified into three types, which are The Rigid Policy (TRP), The
Moderate Policy (TMP) and The Tolerant Policy (TTP). The results show that the best policy
for the sustainability of the HTCT depends on the relative importance of CSC, which is expected by the local government. To be specific, (1) if CSC is considered to be much less
important than CEC, the local government should continue implementing TTP with the
maximum overload ratio; (2) if CSC is considered to be much more important than CEC, then
TRP is recommended; and (3) if CSC is considered to be slightly more important than CEC,
TMP with an overload ratio of 80% is best.
Practical implications: The conclusions of this paper may help the local government design
appropriate TWR policies to achieve the sustainability of the HTCT.
Originality/value: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first effort to evaluate TWR
policies on the sustainability of the highway freight system based on SD.

Zhao, Peixin; Yu, Haoran; Wang, Zhiyang; Xu, Lulu
Purpose: Under the background of global warming, low carbon economy, which is based on
low waste and low pollution, has become a globally focused topic. Energy conservation,
emission reduction and low carbon development have become irresistible trends of social
development. A new set of low carbon evaluation index system for logistics enterprises is
proposed. It is helpful for the better monitor of low carbon production and provide the
optimization of industrial policies in China.
Design/methodology/approach: Based on the problem that logistic analyses are facing
under the background of low carbon economy, this paper firstly establishes a set of new
evaluation indexes system, including 5 first-level indices and 28 second-level indices, for the
low carbon development levels of logistics enterprises in China. To simplify the new evaluation
system, the weight judgment method is then used to select indices, the validity judgment
method and reliability coefficient judgment method are respectively used to test the validity and
reliability of the evaluation systems. The simplified evaluation system consists of 4 first-class
indices and 20 second-class indexes. Finally, numerical examples illustrate the validity and
operability of the evaluation system.
Findings: From the analysis and evaluation results, it is not difficult to obtain the rank of
logistics enterprise according to the selected indexes or the overall evaluation indices. Low
scores of some key indexes in strategy indices and technical indices cause low carbon emission performance. Moreover, The reason for the good low carbon performance of one enterprises
is that it is in the lead on the key indexes of high weighs such as Perfection degree of low
carbon development strategy, Level of transportation route optimization, etc. The new
evaluation index system also helps enterprises to realize the sustainable development by
identifying the key factors that affect the low carbon development level.
Originality/value: The existing literature that assesses low carbon logistics is mostly focused
on the review of the location-based and industry-based aspects, and little attention has been
paid to assessing the efficiency of low carbon logistics from the components that are within
the logistics enterprises. Therefore, we develop a new low carbon evaluation index system for
logistics enterprises in order to better monitor low carbon production and provide the
optimization of industrial policies in China.

Meyliana; Hidayanto, Achmad Nizar; Budiardjo, Eko Kuswardono
Purpose: To analyze students’ social media preference in order to improve student engagement
with university by examining social media implementation quality in terms of information and
service quality.
Design/methodology/approach: Research methodology is started with the hierarchy
creation of student engagement with university which then translated into questionnaire. This
questionnaire was distributed to 58 universities in Jakarta (Indonesia’s capital). The
questionnaire result was analyzed with entropy and TOPSIS method.
Findings: In social media implementation quality, information quality is more important than
service quality because in social media, a good information quality is really relevant with the
usefulness and comprehensiveness of the information. On the other hand regarding service
quality, the system availability will help students in their interaction process with university, on
top of the service’s efficiency and fulfillment. This directly impacts the cooperation between
students, active learning process, and students’ expectation. The social medias students
preferred to improve student engagement with universities respectively are LINE, Facebook,
Twitter, Wiki, Blog, Instagram, YouTube, Path, LinkedIn, and Podcast. Research limitations/implications: Social media’s role is not only to create student
engagement in the learning process, but also other aspects included by Chickering & Gamson
(1987).
Practical implications: The Social CRM channel shift from electronic into social media shows
that social media holds an important role for university since it eases up the communication
between university and the students. The good social media management has been an issue that
needs to be solved by university by creating a unit or delegate a person that can manage the
social media correctly and quickly so the students feel that they get the good service they want.
Originality/value: The other researches focus on observing social media influence to improve
student engagement, but only in the context of learning process. This research observes social
media roles in student engagement thoroughly according to the existing good practice. This
research can also shows the order of social media that are seen important to create student
engagement.

Meng, Qingliang; Jiang, Xuan; He, Lin; Xinxin, Guo
Purpose: The purpose of study is to propose and verify a method of service quality elements
classification through integrating fuzzy theory into Kano model. The method has the merit of
being more effective in processing customers’ psychology of vagueness and uncertainties than
traditional Kano model.
Design/methodology/approach: In this study, considering the disadvantages of traditional
Kano model in service quality elements classification without taking into account customers’
complex consuming psychology, and combining with fuzzy theory which is effective to cope
with uncertainty and ambiguity, a new framework of integrating fuzzy theory into Kano model
in quality elements classification is proposed. In view of the strong subjectivity of traditional
Kano questionnaires, a fuzzy Kano questionnaire considering the evaluators’ multi-feelings is
proposed. Furthermore, this study will also develop a mathematical calculation performance
according to the classification of fuzzy Kano model. With this method, the accurate mentality
can be fully reasonable reflected in some unknown circumstances. Finally, an empirical study in
Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co., Ltd, the largest manufacturing industry in China,
is showed to testify its feasibility and validity. Findings: The calculation results and the application effect show that the proposed model has
good performance in classifying customer requirements. With this method, the accurate
mentality can be fully reasonable reflected in unknown circumstances and it is more objective
than traditional Kano model to classify the service quality elements.
Originality/value: This study provides a method to integrate fuzzy theory and Kano model,

Huang, Song; Chen, Guocan; Ma, Yanan
Purpose: Dual-channels have been widely used in practice, and the pricing decisions and the
online channel operation mode choice have been the core problems in dual-channel supply
chain management. This paper focuses on the online channel operation mode choice from the
supply chain power structures based on game theoretical analysis.
Design/methodology/approach: This paper utilizes three kinds of game theoretical models
to analyze the impact of supply chain power structures on the optimal pricing and online
channel operation mode choice.
Findings: Results derived in this paper indicate that when the self-price elasticity is large, the
power structures have no direct impact on the decisions. However, when the self-price elasticity
is small and customers’ preference for the online channel is low, then in the MS market, it is
better for the retailer to operate the online channel, while in the RS market or in the VN
market, it is better for the manufacturer to operate the online channel.
Research limitations/implications: In this paper, we do not consider stochastic demand and
asymmetric information, which may not well suit the reality.
Originality/value: This paper provides a different perspective to analyze the impact of supply
chain power structures on the pricing decisions and online channel operation mode choice. The
comparison of these two online channel operation modes in this paper is also a unique point.

better for the retailer to operate the online channel, while in the RS market or in the VN
market, it is better for the manufacturer to operate the online channel.
An emergency dispatch model considering the urgency of the requirement for reliefs in different disaster areasSheng, LiuWen-Jing, TanGuo-Dong, YuFei, Lihttp://hdl.handle.net/2117/848892020-07-22T22:00:25Z2016-03-30T14:02:30ZAn emergency dispatch model considering the urgency of the requirement for reliefs in different disaster areas

Purpose: Frequent sudden-onset disasters which have threatened the survival of human and
the development of society force the public to pay an increasing attention to emergency
management. A challenging task in the process of emergency management is emergency
dispatch of reliefs. An emergency dispatch model considering the urgency of the requirement
for reliefs in different disaster areas is proposed in this paper to dispatch reliefs reasonably and
reduce the effect of sudden-onset disasters.
Design/methodology/approach: Firstly, quantitative assessment on the urgency of the
requirement for reliefs in different disaster areas is done by an evaluation method based on
Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation and improved Evidence Reasoning which is proposed in this
paper. And then based the quantitative results, an emergency dispatch model aiming to
minimize the response time, the distribution cost and the unsatisfied rate of the requirement
for reliefs is proposed, which reflects the requests of disaster areas under emergency, including
the urgency of requirement, the economy of distribution and the equity of allocation. Finally,
the Genetic Algorithm is improved based on the adaptive crossover and mutation probability
function to solve the emergency dispatch model.
Findings: A case that the Y hydraulic power enterprise carries on emergency dispatch of
reliefs under continuous sudden-onset heavy rain is given to illustrate the availability of the emergency dispatch model proposed in this paper. The results show that the emergency
dispatch model meets the distribution priority requirement of disaster area with the higher
urgency, so that reliefs are supplied more timely.
Research limitations/implications: The emergency dispatch model faced to large scale
sudden-onset disasters is complex. The quantity of reliefs that disaster area requires and the
running time of vehicles are viewed as available information, and the problem that how to
obtain the information is not considered.
Practical implications: The emergency dispatch model considering the urgency of the
requirement for reliefs in different disaster areas is applicable to a realistic emergency dispatch
of reliefs under sudden-onset disasters and the research results is the foundation of further
research on the problem of emergency management.
Originality/value: This paper proposes emergency dispatch model considering the urgency of
the requirement for reliefs in different disaster areas which can meet the realistic requirement
that the disaster area with the higher urgency has an priority to obtain the reliefs and make
reliefs be distributed timely.
