Title: FascinatE D3.1.1 Survey of Metadata and Knowledge for Automated Scripting
Authors: Thomas, G.; Schreer, Oliver; Oldfield, Rob; Shirley, Ben; Niamut, O.A.; Poggi, A.; Masetti, M.; Bailer, W; Kaiser, R.; Engstrom, A.; Ruiz Hidalgo, Javier; Kochale, A.; Macq, J.; Rondao Alface, P.; Verzijp, N.
Abstract: This document defines the various types of metadata in the FascinatE system and discusses representation requirements and candidate formats. The document considers various types of metadata describing capture, production, context, content, scripts, network, terminals and users. Representation of essence and essence-like metadata (e.g. depth maps) are out of scope of this document.

Research and state-of-the-art algorithms of event-related activities for human monitoring

Title: Research and state-of-the-art algorithms of event-related activities for human monitoring
Authors: López Méndez, Adolfo; Casas Pla, Josep Ramon
Abstract: In this report we analyze state-of-the-art algorithms for human monitoring in generic environments and we focus on video monitoring of human activity. The objective is to define the basis upon which the ACTIBIO dataset will be recorded.

The first sections are devoted to generic technical aspects of multi-modal monitoring, including modalities that are not foreseen for authentication within ACTIBIO, but that can provide knowledge about deployment of a multi-modal sensor network.

Next, we analyze state-of-the-art algorithms for human monitoring, focusing on methods for activity and behaviour understanding at different levels of abstraction.

Finally, we present a recording protocol comprising technical issues derived from the knowledge acquired during the state-of-the-art review and including also a script responding to the specifications of ACTIBIO use cases and scenarios.

Human Motion Analysis Module

Title: Human Motion Analysis Module
Authors: López Méndez, Adolfo; Casas Pla, Josep Ramon
Abstract: This document presents the implemented algorithms for human motion analysis within ACTIBIO. According to the systems developed in WP3 two main branches of analysis have been defined: model-based and model-free analysis.
Model-based analysis targets methods that employ high-level parameters obtained from a body model. These parameters are basically a set of joint angles and positions that are estimated via the articulated motion tracking algorithms proposed in activity A3.2.
On the other hand, model-free analysis mainly investigates how to obtain view-invariant low-level features that could be used to boost known motion analysis techniques. The starting point for this approach is a set of foreground silhouettes obtained from several views. Methods for extracting silhouettes of humans in controlled environments have been studied and implemented in activity A3.1
