Abstract: We provide an overview of current techniques and typical applications of numerical bifurcation analysis in fluid dynamical problems. Many of these problems are characterized by highdimensional dynamical systems which undergo transitions as parameters are changed. The computation of the critical conditions associated with these transitions, popularly referred to as 'tipping points', is important for understanding the transition mechanisms. We describe the two basic classes of methods of numerical bifurcation analysis, which differ in the explicit or implicit use of the Jacobian matrix of the dynamical system. The numerical challenges involved in both methods are mentioned and possible solutions to current bottlenecks are given. To demonstrate that numerical bifurcation techniques are not restricted to relatively lowdimensional dynamical systems, we provide several examples of the application of the modern techniques to a diverse set of fluid mechanical problems.

layer and the iSocket layer. Communications among iNode and iSockets are according IEC 61850 standard.
The aims of the project is to comission a set of technologies and acquire experience in microgrid automation, IEC 61850
communications and power control algorithms in DER systems.

Abstract: El Reial Decret 60/2011, que transposa a la legislació espanyola la Directiva
2008/105/CE, estableix les normes de qualitat ambiental (és a dir llindars
màxims de concentració) de les substàncies prioritàries i altres contaminants
(Annex I) i les substàncies preferents (Annex II) en les aigües superficials.
Algunes d'aquestes substàncies corresponen a matèries actives de productes
fitosanitaris. En aquest context, i emmarcat dins de les activitats de la Càtedra
SyngentaUPC, sorgeix un projecte formatiu per a la millora de les pràctiques
fitosanitàries. La hipòtesi de partida és que la millora d’aquestes pràctiques
comporta una reducció significativa i perceptible de la contaminació de les
aigües per plaguicides, fet que és especialment rellevant en zones on es
detecten excessos d’aquestes matèries.

Plaguicides
El Reial Decret 60/2011, que transposa a la legislació espanyola la Directiva

Abstract: This work proposes design energy spectra in terms of an equivalent velocity, intended for regions with design peak acceleration 0.3 g or higher. These spectra were derived through linear and nonlinear dynamic analyses on a number of selected Turkish strong ground motion records. In the long and mid period ranges the analyses are linear, given the relative insensitivity of the spectra to structural parameters other than the fundamental period; conversely, in the short period range, the spectra are more sensitive to the structural parameters and, hence, nonlinear analyses are required. The selected records are classified in eight groups with respect to soil type (stiff or soft soil), the severity of the earthquake in terms of surface magnitude Ms (Ms <= 5.5 and Ms > 5.5) and the relevance of the nearsource effects (impulsive or vibratory). For each of these groups, median and characteristic spectra are proposed; such levels would respectively correspond to 50 and 95 % percentiles. These spectra have an initial linear growing branch in the short period range, a horizontal branch in the mid period range and a descending branch in the long period range. Empirical criteria for estimating the hysteretic energy from the input energy are suggested. The proposed design spectra are compared with those obtained from other studies.

The immunocomplex was performed by using tosylactivated magnetic beads as preconcentration platform into a flexible hybrid polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)polycarbonate (PC) microfluidic chip with integrated screen printed electrodes (SPE). All the immunoassay was performed in chip and in flow mode. The sensitive electrochemical detection was obtained by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry. ApoE was evaluated for its potential as biomarker for Alzheimer's disease detection, achieving a limit of detection (LOD) of ~12.5ngmL1 with a linear range from 10 to 200ngmL1 and high accuracy for diluted human plasma. © 2013 Elsevier B.V.

types of kinematic and static degeneracy that characterize mechanism singularity. The proposed approach is an extension of recent
work on computing singularities using a numerical method based on linear relaxations. Classification is sought by means of a hierarchy of singularity tests, each formulated as a system of quadratic or linear equations, which yields sets of classes to which an identified singularity cannot belong. A planar manipulator exemplifies the process of classification, and illustrates how, while most singularities get completely classified, for some
