Results suggest advertisement size, a hotel’s starred rating and price influence perceived value at this stage. The presence of a positive combined effect of price and advertising was found. Para ello se ha llevado a cabo un estudio empírico mediante un exhaustivo cuestionario entre empresas de la comunidad autónoma de Cataluña. Los resultados del estudio muestran que existe una relación directa y positiva entre la aplicación de sistemas de gestión de la calidad y del medioambiente con la dimensión de empresa. Así mismo, el grado de internacionalización parece estar relacionado con la aplicación de sistemas de gestión de la calidad y de la seguridad y salud laboral.; The aim of this work is to evaluate whether the adoption of quality management systems (ISO 9001), environmental management systems (ISO 14001) and occupational health and safety systems (OHSAS 18001) in manufacturing companies is related to the size of the company and the degree of internationalization. To fulfill this aim, a survey amongst companies from the region of Catalonia has been conducted. The results of the study reveal a direct and positive relation between the adoption of quality and environmental management systems and the size of the company. An in deep implementation of lean management involves organizational aspects. Some authors suggested as leading concepts of the organizational changes (1) focus the organization on the customer, and (2) to do that, focus the organization on the Value Stream. The present paper is part of a project aimed to diffuse successful applications of these ideas. The describe case corresponds to the lean transformation of the filter manufacturing plant of Sogefi Filtration at Cerdanyola del Vallès, Barcelona. Data was collected through an interview of the plant manager and a visit to the plant in December, 2010 and July 2011. The organizational solution adopted consists in (1) a pure functional hierarchical organization for the day to day functioning; (2) the setting up of continuous improvement groups in charge of Value Stream segments and with an important level of functions and support; and (3) a strong production control by using Value Stream based on indicators.
